In the first match of the day, Germany met the newcomers from Serbia. The Serbian team delivered a good performance and scored seven points against the defending champion.
Among the spectators was also Elke Bösch, mother of German defender Annika. Mrs. Bösch visits all tournaments the German squad plays in and hence also was in Dresden in 2014 and Curitiba in 2016 where the Germans won the title, respectively. Obvously, Mrs. Bösch keeps again her fingers crossed for the German team, “I hope that Germany wins.”
Hinrike Seitz (GER): We are still working on showing our best performance and hopefully we will continue to improve it in the up-coming days. The Serbian team played really well and their attackers played a really great game. It was an amazing match and hopefully we will play more of those.
Lara Vukovic (SRB): It’s an honour to play against the German team because they currently are the World Champions. They are excellent. I didn’t get a chance to play but it was an honour to watch them play and I think that my team played really well.
