In the southeast, very close to the upper Lake Zurich, the city of Rapperswil-Jona maintains the Grünfeld sports facilities. The ball sports center offers facilities for soccer, beach volleyball, tennis, boccia, athletics and the fistball club Jona has its own facility for 3 playgrounds. A large sports hall is home to the NLA volleyball team and for the emerging sport of floorball. A tennis hall with attached physiotherapy and restoration is also part of the facility.
Sufficient parking spaces are available on the Grünfeld sports area for those arriving by car (for a fee). The Grünfeld bus stop with a direct connection to the train stations of Rapperswil and Jona can be found right next to the sports complex. The seaside resort of Stampf can be reached on foot in around 5 minutes. The Seedbad Stampf has an attached camping site for tents (no mobile homes).
The Grünfeld sports complex is well known to many fistball players around the world. Once a year the Obersee Master, one of the largest fistball tournaments in the world, takes place on the facility. However, the center of the fistball world championship will not be the fistball field, but the football stadium of the local FC Rapperswil-Jona. The same stadium was already used for the 2006 World Championships. All facilities are easy to reach around the stadium in a short distance.
